Roaring Rivers

Torrents, ripples, and currents by Christyl Rivers

Bumble, tumble, grumble, and rumble

We look at recent years to help predict what lies ahead. But the world is rapidly changing, feedback loops are looping, tempers are going beyond temperate (as are temperatures) activism is activating, ecosystems are being erased, biodiversity is being banished, hurricanes are heaping up for the next season, droughts are drying up dreams and streams, fires will kill many of the trees I see today. Many that I see now, along with their sweet-singing birds, will be gone tomorrow.

It has never been this way before because, in addition to having eight billion plus people now, we have extreme disparity between those who have tons of stuff delivered daily, and those who just lost their whole community or even much of their nation.

Pakistan. Puerto Rico. Ukraine. Somalia. Many others in 2023.

We have political polarization to fluff up the frenzy-mongers seeking scapegoats. We have snotwads like Elon Bezos and Don the Con Bolsonaro.
