Do you see all these new ads about credit scores and pay later stores?

Is it my imagination? Or is every ad trying to trap us?

I do not know if it is setting up new accounts in a new area, or if bankers, lenders, middle-men, or vampires are lining up to sell me debt. Every time I turn on any device, the ads come up.

Increase your credit score.

Invest in that new house, or car.

Get a great rate.

Buy now, pay later.

Want to earn points with each purchase?

It just keeps coming. Do they think we are idiots?

Yes. They do. They know enough of us are idiots, or desperate enough, to go even further into debt.

I’ve been poor. I’ve been rich. Dot. coms. Under water. Then, frugal. I think we are solidly middle class now.

Or, then again, is there a middle class?

Many people earning a million per year see themselves as “middle,” but so, too, do many who earn less than $30,000 per year.
