Attacks That Blame An Identity “Group” Are Counterproductive
Many attempts to convince a reader more often just drive them away

One “group” of people says the election of Joe Biden was stolen by another “group” of people. Every single day, there are articles, books, video segments, and call-outs of one group against another.
Perhaps if you read daily on Medium, you have heard the drumbeat of “white men” this, “the far left” do that. “Black people” are this. “White women” are that. “Boomers” did this. “Gen Z” did that. “Old people” are this. “LGBTQ people” are that.
In my case, it’s often: “environmentalists” are this. Or, that.
And, it never ends.
At least, five things happen. Very often, the group that is being called out entirely ignores the article. They are defensive, which is human. They already feel it has bias and they barely make it past the headline.
Second, venting does occur. Expressing your hurt or anger is actually good. Bottling up frustration causes resentment, and later hurt. But because of the above defensiveness (and…
