Dirty deals

Putin, of course, has so much blood on his hands that’s it’s difficult to see the oil, but it’s there, lubricating everything he does.

He is guilty of burning lots and lots of oil to enrich oligarchs, steal from his people, and now, burning out whole cities to horrify the world.

But something else is also happening.

Again, (and this time maybe for reals?), people are asking, perhaps, maybe, we should not depend on dictators and evil authoritarian regimes for our energy needs?

It’s a really good question.

The answer is that we should never have given up national security in order to get oil in other nations where hundreds of thousands of people have died, and are now dying due to climate disruption.

It’s annoying that the Biden administration promises green house gas emissions reform while issuing the highest number of new oil leases. It’s also annoying that Biden is being blamed for gas and oil price hikes while major polluters are opportunistically raking in huge profits.
