Counter Service, Have You Heard “OH! Let Me Check On That For You?”

This phrase was rare prior to everything online

Roaring Rivers

Torrents, currents, and ripples by Christyl Rivers

A day in the strife

Monday: Waiting to schedule next cancer appointment. Tech looks at the console. I repeat the date. She says: “Let me double-check on that for you real quick” and darts down the hall. Ten-fifteen minutes later, we leave with the appointment we had already invested time in making.

Tuesday: We’re waiting for counter service about a computer. My SOS explains what the issue is, (he is a tech wizard, Harry.) He knows exactly the parts he wants. The kid says, “Hold on, let me check on that for you…” and disappears into a black hole.

Wednesday: We’re at ‘home improvement big box store’. We prearranged our order. Wait in line. Finally, get a live (rare) person upfront. Repeat line as above: “let me check real quick on that…

Thursday: Plant nursery. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

What the hella inconvenience is going on?

This has likely happened to you. Right?
