Prime Directive: watch this show

Growing up in the Star Trek Re-run Universe, and scarcely knowing the Star Wars Universe, (two good films, shrug) my present partner and I are aging, die-hard Trekkies.

The known galaxies were explored and patrolled by the Federation. All civil life forms could be invited to join the Federation, but many were hostile.

It’s 2258 when James T. Kirk takes command of the Starship Enterprise. There is one rule. Do not break the prime directive.

This rule makes tons of sense. It tells explorers they are not to mess up cultures and timelines. They can’t interfere with weaponry and local conflicts. They are not to exploit people, flora, and fauna. The Enterprise crew is not to evangelize their own faiths and economic systems. They are not to impose either crime or punishment according to their standards. And, hands off the space babes.
