Bad mood while researching today
After reading about everything from possible nuclear power plant melt-down in Ukraine, to the depleted Colorado River, I am not in a great writing mood.
Please excuse, but also indulge the rant. Then add your very valuable two cents.
Turtles all the way down?
Some species are facing extinction, as only females can bear the heat and gestate the eggs that need temperature balance to make male hormones.
They told us the world is held up by turtles all the way down.
Yet, we tossed our cares and calmed our qualms.
We cast off our misgivings. We took up the turtles in our plastic nets, sometimes slicing fins clean through.
The Great Barrier Reef is a living community. In heat stress, corals expel their food, algae that we forgot to revere. The reefs die ceremoniously, donning white, spectral as skeletal fingers.
