Thanks for your thoughts. You are right, I was thinking about how the Greeks, minotaur, etc. adapted far earlier ideas about bulls, cattle, etc. from other cultures.

I appreciate the input, because I need to remember not to assume reader will think about later adaptations, earlier origins, and so on.
