Learning From The MIC and DIC

The Military Industrial Complex
They said, was not the best of all Earth projects
Projectiles, perhaps a pinch of graft, bit of fleece,
Using war machines to keep jobs and peace
Perhaps a crying crime against humanity
But not wholly constructed from pure insanity
we could educate, feed, and clothe, instead
but let history untangle that bloody thread
We have today, the Detention Incarceration Complex
And again, some say it contradicts,
Common sense, or common decency
The greater good, or thoughtful leniency,
But what is greater, and what is great again?
Encourage a hater — you may make a powerful friend —
Be tough on crime, (unless it’s multinational)
Be kind to unkind, profit from all that’s extractable
Progressive progress progresses by both carrot and stick
But we’ve lightyears to go if we measure by DIC
