More than half of all gun owners, (62%) are male (Pew Research). Less than 30% of gun owners are female. Since most men, and almost no women, do not own guns, isn’t there a huge discrepancy in how guns are then present to be used as protection, esp. for preventing rape or domestic violence?

If there is a way to convince women to own guns, it should have been effective by now, if having guns is somehow safer than not having them.
