No one thinks the cranky toddler describes all toddlers. No one thinks the hungry chicken describes all chickens. But somehow, put “toxic” in front of “masculinity” and it means that all male behavior is toxic.

I’m convinced that we already have in our minds the expectation that toxic describes masculine, how else is there so much defensiveness about an Adjective?
