Are you of any use to anyone?

Not all people agree that an embryo is a human being. Even when they agree that an embryo is a wanted, loved, and extremely desired “clump of cells” they may not consider potential persons as “persons.”

Rightfully, one comment I received about my Fourth Wave Personhood article mentions the law. We make the laws. This is true. We even allow one law that says corporations are people with rights and privileges.

But the very purpose of a corporation is to exploit labor from people, and these often are people who suffer, especially once they grow old and are discarded. Let’s not forget how the biosphere suffers, as well.

Thus, my personhood article is more to the point having to do with one word:

SUFFERING.

If we have forced birth, shaming of pregnant people, addicted people, impoverished people, women not allowed to get healthcare for an at-risk pregnancy or fetus, we allow the idea that some people must suffer more than…
