I began to think about Keven Spacey, an alleged rapist who has “lost everything.” I believe Keven when he says that he didn’t know it was ‘abuse.’ I believe Johnny Depp saying Amber Heards charges were “all false.”

That road to fair and respectful treatment is a rough road in our society. The road is meandering, bumpy, snowy, or flooded. It’s covered with confusing road signs, has abrupt exists, and even crumbling pavement. The way never leads any two ‘good guys’ to the exact same destination. It’s why women seldom find justice.

Only a tiny fraction of rapes are reported. An even tinier fraction of men are convicted.

Almost invariably, men who see themselves as “good guys,” routinely act like many other guys who routinely have no consequences. In fact, we all operate under assumptions that if this is what is socially acceptable, then it must be socially acceptable.

They ARE innocent in their own minds. Our patriarchal culture sets them up to behave badly, and then, when just some ‘good…
