Thank you for all this fine work, Elle. It has often occurred to me that so much of what we hear is misleading. White men overwhelmingly oppressed women and Blacks, viciously fighting to keep all women disenfranchised. As always some "pure" women supported those men. I also notice that many Medium historical pieces mention how white women and white men oppressed ancestors while failing to note that most mixed race people were once the result not of the mistress of the plantation, as often as the Master, doing the raping and miscegenation. We judge by our standards, not historical ones. Yet, we all live in the damaged house we built.

There was never "our people" being abused by "your people" There has always only been our greats, grandparents were mixed, due to some of them being rapists, slavers, etc., and some of them being more exploited than others. Nuance, Yes!
