India Collides With The 21st Century

The heartbreaking train crash in Odisha, India is on many minds.

As many as 300 people are dead, and many more people are injured.

Train derailments happen every day, now. But this one is extra injurious and tragic. And it didn’t have to happen.

Like the toxic chemical spill train not that long ago in Ohio, USA, only a truly horrendous crash seems to make the news.

India has been ruled now by Narendra Modi for awhile. He is a right-wing divisive leader. His primary job seems to be to inspire nationalism. However, he has been convinced to upgrade and modernize the railway system. They have even determined to electrify the system, (which is vast), to avoid the worst pollution, streamline efficiency, and meet climate goals.
