Lots of cranky questions from a new neighbor

We are now moved to the Pacific Northwest. I have every right to be cranky, so don’t down vote me for that; we have been fighting respiratory illness for a week. It could be Covid, but if so, the vaccines and masks have kept us alive. Yay!

Nevertheless, I still get cranky.

Near our building site is a shooting range. It’s a formally rural area. There are still some hen houses (think concrete football field sized bunkers) and cow ranches. It’s unclear to us why we have to put up with the disturbance to the peace so that people who are not most of us can shoot their guns.

It doesn’t seem to help a “well regulated militia” in any way, for example. Nor does it makes us feel any safer knowing so many people around here are toting guns. When I say people, btw, that’s mostly some young and middle aged men.
