Your arguments are correct about the law. Yet, life itself for human beings is very anthrocentric in an untried age (of climate and extinction) so the issue becomes more about what people should have rights, and how to teach people how biology and the biosphere works. The second point is that as we evolve socially, we learn to regard these facts. we learn that reducing suffering of planet and people is our best purpose if we truly value humankind
